“We adopted Tom from Lizzie’s Barn two years ago when he was 6 months old. We like collie cross lurchers so we looked hard for one and he was there waiting for us to find him. He has turned out to be a fabulous dog, who is very affectionate and clearly delighted to have found his forever family and is keen not to let us too far out of his sight. He settled in quickly, had no accidents, was quiet at night, made immediate friends with the resident elderly lurcher and the three cats, and took up his place in front of the Aga. He is lively but sensible, obedient, comes out for hacks with the horses when he behaves himself very well, and is generally a delightful, friendly and calm dog who everyone loves. We think his beautiful feathery ears suggest one of his parents was a saluki, but if so the other must have been a sensible collie as he is not too mad or prone to chasing. When we need another dog, when our older boy passes on (sob), we will make Lizzie’s barn our first port of call.”
